Yorash: Life Moves On

With the grace of the gods, something can grow from nothing.

After the banishment, the war was won, but there was almost nothing left. The Numena banded together to bless each race of the planes with a new beginning. On the Prime Material Plane, which would come to be known as Yorash, certain cradles of civilization were chosen for each race - blessed river valleys where crops would grow, children could grow up, and resources would be plentiful. These became great kingdoms, and some later democracies or oligarchies, and they all remain today great prosperous cities, though most have lost their ties to any specific deities.

Most metropolitan areas now are a wide mix of racial backgrounds, and new races have cropped up as society has developed, animals have learned to draw on the Weave, and monsters from the Lower Planes found their way into the world. Some villages and towns of a single race still remain, but it is far more uncommon.

As these civilizations developed and spread across the realm, sacred texts of the gods became less and less important, often treated by political and civil leaders as legends or myths rather than true facts. None would dare go so far as to deny their existence, but many secular leaders downplay their importance. This cultural shift over time has led to a decentralization of religion and differences from region to region, so much so that even from one nation at the north of a continent to the nation at the south of the same continent, the two peoples may have differing beliefs over who controls the gift of the Sight, who the mother figure of the pantheon is, and even how many deities there are!

The world is far more up to interpretation than the gods ever expected it would become, and though many of them have lost the influence and adoration they once enjoyed, the Numena have agreed to freedom to choose for the creatures they made, and thus do not interfere. The Umbrad are less content, but currently, they have no choice but to be mere onlookers as they pray for mortals to discover their Sundered Shadows.
